The main theme of my blog is to go out of your comfort zone and do something that scares you.  I always go back to the quote from Eleanor Roosevelt that says, “Do one thing everyday that scares you”.  I think it’s really important to make yourself try something new.  I know for me, a big motivating factor is the fear of regret or as the young-ins today call it “FOMO” (fear of missing out).

When I was trying to figure out what blog posts to write about Maui, I started outlining out the usual ones - where to go, Instagrammable Spots, hidden finds - and then I thought, wait, how could I forget about the food?  It dawned on me.  When I do my research for my trips, I usually focus on the places and things I’d like to do and see and not on food.  Food should be at the top of your list the next time you visit Maui.

Oh the challenges of working and wanting to travel. Cue the weekend. Yes, the two days of the week of freedom. Granted now that I don’t work a corporate nine to five, I don’t necessarily have as much of a constricting schedule. Since I don’t want to travel solo though, that means I travel with friends who do have those nine to five jobs.

I’ll be the first to admit that a trip to Sacramento was never really on the top of my bucket list. My main reason to go to Sacramento was to visit my best friend. I went into my stay thinking there would be no way I’d write a blog post on Sacramento. I sure was wrong.

As a native Angeleno, I’m always getting asked where the must visit places around Los Angeles are. The problem is as a local, I hadn’t grown up doing the “touristy” things around my city. I only recently started to visit the famous sites. Up until a few months ago, I had never been to the Hollywood Sign!

Open for just over a year, the OUE Skypace in Downtown Los Angeles quickly made a name for itself because of its unique Skyslide. This glass slide hovers just about 1000 feet over the city where brave guests can slide from the 70th floor to the 69th floor. I’ll repeat that. This is a glass slide.

There are a lot of recommendations for the best places to take pictures around Los Angeles. You know, where can you get those pictures that are going to get you 100 likes (or more, go you!). I’ve read them all and honestly I don’t really want to drive across the city just to jump in front of a wall to then drive back.

Since including pictures of the infamous Pirate Tower on the beach in Laguna Beach in my Southern California Beach Guide blog post, I’ve gotten so many inquiries about exactly how to get there and some of the challenges of this particular spot. So, here you go everyone!

Have you heard of #thepinkhouse in LA yet? Or should I say pink houses, plural. I got a wake up text from my roommate Sunday morning about it. I mean, that’s one way to get me out of my bed. Say pink houses and I’m up and wide awake. Think the famous pink blogger wall a.k.a. the Paul Smith store on Melrose, but times that by three.

I have been spending an awfully lot of time on the beach lately. I guess it’s hard to stay away from the beach when you live in sunny (well, not currently) Southern California. Funny enough, I live about 10 minutes from the beach and for the most part don’t really go.

Have you heard of Desert X? If you haven’t, it’s ok, you aren’t completely living under a rock. I drove out to Palm Springs back in February and saw some billboards on the side of the freeway that looked like snapshots of the landscape behind the sign. I didn’t think anything of it.

This may sound strange, but it was really hard coming up with a “best” list for ice cream around Los Angeles. I think it’s because it’s pretty hard to mess ice cream up and there are so many places to chose from. I mean I crave Baskin Robbins sometimes. I may have left off a few places, but to me these are the best and most unique places around.

Yes, the Museum of Ice Cream is a real place. And, let me tell you, it is what all of your ice cream dreams are made of. Your visit is full of all things ice cream, giant popsicles, swings and the best part, a pool full of sprinkles. I know I hate to burst your bubble, but the sprinkles are not real and you cannot and should not eat them.

Whether you're a Los Angeles resident or on a vacation in sunny Southern California, sometimes it's nice to get out of the big, bustling city. These tried and true destinations are all great ways to relax, explore and see more that Southern California has to offer.

I’m a Los Angeles native and up until two weeks ago, I had never hiked to see the Hollywood Sign. The closest I ever came to seeing the Hollywood Sign was from Griffith Observatory. Not exactly what I’d call close. I think it’s just one of those things where you really don’t do the touristy things when you’re from an area.

I think by now we've all heard about the crazy lush super blooms that are happening in Southern California. These super blooms are occurring because of the intense rain we’ve been getting. Well, intense by Southern California standards. April showers bring May flowers - oh wait, I mean February showers bring March flowers.

This one’s pretty simple. I’ve rounded up the spots that I think are the 5 most Instagrammable locations in all of Palm Springs. Words aren’t really needed, so I’ll just leave you with some Instagram-worthy pictures.

I’ve been dreaming about visiting Salvation Mountain for some time now, but I just never had the time to make the trek out. I’m going to be straight with you, it is a little bit of a journey. Even from Palm Springs, it’s about an hour and a half, if not a little further, to get to Salvation Mountain.

I know all you want to do when you head out to Palm Springs, is relax and lay by the pool. Am I right? Ya, that's what I wanted to do too, but I had no such luck. When I visited Palm Springs a few weeks ago, it was freezing. And by freezing I mean temperatures were in the 50's - clearly not laying out weather.

There are definitely two ways you can do Joshua Tree. You can camp or you can stay in the surrounding areas right outside of Joshua Tree National Park. On my recent weekend trip, we were able to do a night of both, which if you know me, camping isn’t necessarily my thing. Why sleep on the floor when you can sleep on a bed, right?

It’s crazy, I’ve lived in Southern California my whole life and had never been to visit Joshua Tree. Strange, since its literally 30 minutes from Palm Springs, which I have been to multiple times. Finally, I visited this beautiful place and put together a list of Joshua Tree’s Top 6.

I've been dying to check out the Getty Villa in Malibu for a while now, but just hadn't gotten the chance to visit. Well, I did try one time this summer, but was unable to get in because you need to have tickets in advance.

I’ve been wanting to write about going to the Broad since the first time I went, back in January, but for some reason I just didn’t think it would be a great enough post. I, recently, returned to visit the Broad museum a few weeks ago. This time was different. My friend and I solely went to see Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room.

Finding art installations on the side of the road is something that I’m increasingly loving to do. There’s a new installation on the way to Las Vegas (from Los Angeles, that is) that you can’t miss. It is just about halfway between Las Vegas and Primm, Nevada off of the 15 freeway.

If you find yourself with time to kill in the Vegas area or are driving across Nevada to Utah, I've found the perfect place to stop through. And it will literally feel like you've stepped foot onto Mars. Like many of the other stops we made on our cross country road trip, I, too, found the Valley of Fire on Pinterest.

As promised, I've complied a list of the essentials you should definitely have to hike the Narrows at Zion National Park. Ok, they are optional but I'm telling you, these items will make your experience that much better. After all you don't want to show up unprepared.

I’ve been struggling on deciding how to write about my day trip to Zion National Park. I think the issue that I’m having is that Zion is an incredibly beautiful place and I really just want to do it justice. Since I really did spend the majority of my time in the Narrows, I wasn’t sure if I could do Zion as a whole justice.
